320 E Raymond Avenue

The current owners of this 1935 beauty were drawn initially to the wraparound porch and natural sunlight and it was important to maintain those elements during a full house renovation/addition in 2020.  (A garage was added in 2018.)  The roofline of the addition was matched to the existing house and the antique metal siding was retained on the attic window.  Glass from the original single pane windows was used to create transoms above the interior doorways. One of the owners used her DIY skills to build a reclaimed wood range hood, book shelves in the office and upstairs hall bathroom.  The original newel post was also retained because of its simple details and after removing about 100 years of paint it looks almost new!

There are Marvin windows throughout and black interior and exterior elements to modernize the farmhouse look.  Copper gutters with round downspouts also brightens the exterior. The front porch is a favorite place to sit with family and watch the changing seasons or host friends.

In the kitchen the cabinets are a mix of painted maple and natural hickory which play off the Milano Blue Quartzite countertops.  A tankless hot water heater and dual zone heating contribute to energy saving efficiency.
