311 Hume Avenue

Built in the Tudor style in 1937,  311 Hume was purchased by the current owners in 2017 and featured on our 2018 H&G Tour.  Needing better rather than more space, and not wanting to leave the neighborhood, Hume underwent a year long renovation in 2022 with the homeowners leading the design team.  With a ‘modern Tudor’ evolution in mind, salvaging and replicating as many elements as possible was key, especially the pattern to the arched openings, the iron tub, the location of the original fireplace and the pattern of the bathroom flooring.

A plaster artisan was sourced to create a custom fireplace, finish the walls in the powder room, and do a waterproof finish in the large primary shower/wet room.  Custom cabinetry was utilized in the kitchen along with a custom fabricated brass shelving unit.

Another priority in the design process was a library/office which doubles as a reading space for the entire family.

Exterior features include an expanded patio, screened in porch and “she shed” that is also a sewing studio and ‘get away’ spot.
