105 East Uhler Avenue ADU
This accessory dwelling unit (ADU) started out as a garage - originally built 28 years ago - before being converted into a guest house about 3 years ago. The ADU supplements the main house by providing a dedicated space for visiting relatives and friends and doubles as extra office space for the owners when not in use by visitors.
105 East Uhler’s ADU was one of the first approved by the City of Alexandria: these homeowners were at the cutting edge of the ADU movement. The result shows that garage conversions are not only possible, but can create both functional and beautiful spaces when done thoughtfully. Heated floors, mini-splits, and tankless hot water heater keep the space comfortable and efficient.
It features a full eat-in kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom loft. The space is complete with laundry and efficient storage for all the household necessities. It has everything visitors need.
Don’t miss the vintage Art on the Avenue posters throughout, reminding visitors of all Del Ray has to offer. Family and friends are sure to visit in early October to catch the festival!
If you converted your garage to an ADU, would you use it for guests? To work from home? As a short-term rental? A dedicated exercise space or playroom? The possibilities are endless.
